The sixth-ranked UCLA men's tennis team upped its record to 8-2 on the season on Sunday, downing No. 18 Texas A&M, 5-2 in a non-conference battle at the Los Angeles Tennis Center.

UCLA began the day by taking a very close doubles point with victories at the top two courts. After an 8-4 UCLA win at court No. 1, Texas A&M answered back with an 8-6 decision at court No. 3. The Bruins ended up clinching the point at the No. 2 spot, where Haythem Abid and Chris Surapol defeated Matt Bain/Conor Pollock, 8-6.

The Bruins continued to take control in singles play, going up 3-0 in the match with victories at court Nos. 1 and 2. Abid was the first off at court No. 2, as he posted a 6-2, 6-4 win over Texas A&M's Brad Williams. Fifth-ranked Benjamin Kohlloeffel wasn't far behind, downing Jerry Makowski, 6-2, 6-1 at the top position.

The Aggies eventually got on the board, as Bain was a 6-4, 6-4 winner over UCLA's Michael Look at court No. 6. The match was clinched just moments later, however, as Bruin senior Philipp Gruendler defeated Luka Ocvirk, 7-6(1), 6-4 at court No. 4.

In the final two matches of the day, UCLA's Mathieu Dehaine defeated Clay Donato, 7-5, 6-4 at court No. 5, while Pollock downed Surapol, 5-7, 6-3, (10-4) at court No. 3.
